to the cabin we go

On Thur.9/22 we went to downtown Minneapolis to have lunch with Lin's sisters and tour part of the city.  We toured  the Guither Theater What a neat place.  They can have three big productions going on at the same time.  On the fifth floor is where we got the good pictures of the city.

Minneapolis historical City Hall and Courthouse
We left with Daine to her city home then to there cabin stopping along the way for wild rice soup and bread pudding with carmel sause.  On Fri. we visited many small towns buying carmel, fudge, and home made icecream (pumpkin and raseberry choc.). When we got home we helped Diane with her quilts

Ron got there late and Michelle and the boys came after that. Sat. we spent helping them get ready for winter, the boys had many fires and I took Alex in the paddle boat fishing. Later Lin and I went around the lake in the paddle boat(my calves still hurt).

Sunday Diane took us to Betty and Fred's cabin and walked along the lakeside and they brought us to the home in the cities. Mon. we left for Branson Mo. We stopped in Grimes Ia. for the night. We went to three info-welcome areas. The first one had a little Kitchen where they make cookies, pies and other pastry. Had apple cake with whipcream and carmel sause and coffee. The next one four miles off the road had a blacksmith shop, old school, old house and many antiques. Also homemade ice cream we had fresh cherry and pecan praline. The third was a Amish stop with many of there crafts and a huge oatmeal choc chip cookie.

3n1 rocking chair, highchair, desk. Very cool.

Tues. 9/27 We came to Lone Jack(just out side Kasnas City Mo.) staying at Lake Paradise resort what a great site we got. This is the view from our dinning table.

Wed. started out so good. Then we left for Kanasa City Linda drove and I with the map got us so lost. We got to two of our five places. After arriving at Hallmark cards visitor center we now know we need good maps and someone who can read them.Hallmark was amazing. A self guided tour from the begining to now. Christmas trees gift by the staff to J. C. Hall.

hallmark had 5 different logos before settling on last one

Then we went to Country Club Plaza to see the fountains and archetector. Found a coffe shop that had grandcrackers with carmel inside and choc covered outside.Choc. was made in Kansas City.(chips choc.) The plaza had water fountains and it was a upscale outdoor shopping center designed after spanish era.very nice.

Trip to Mn.

We left Door County and took two days to drive to Mn.  The night we spent in Wi. was very cold and we did not want to use the holding tank so we used there bathrooms it was cold so we just put our robes and heavey coats to go.

We left our 5th wheel at a storage place for the nest ten days.  We stayed at Lin's sister (Betty and Fred) and on Sat. went to her niece (Michelle, Jeff, Jack, and Alex) for Michelle's 40th surprise birthday party. Lin's sister (Diane and Ron), brother (Mike and Pam from Fl.) and niece (Trishelle, Dan, and Brynn) were all there. We had a Haawian theme and alot of there nieghbors joined us.

On Sunday we had a Football tailgating party at Jeff and Michelle's. Mike and I had a rough time till the end of the game where the Bucs pulled ahead (yea bucs).  Linda and I wore some shirts that Betty ,Fred, Mike, and Pam surprised us with , along with some everglades seasoning from Fl.

Linda's sister Diane surprised us With a quilted picture of our 5th wheel.  It already has found a spot on our wall and looks awesome.

Linda and I enjoyed a lunch on Betty and Fred's porch.

We have been enjoying the weather here and able to do some walking.  The mall is about a mile away.

Two Rivers, Kohler, Manitowoc, Door County Wi

9/7/11 Just befor leaving for  Wi. we sat down for breakfast and a bible study.
9/8/11 To day we left for Two River Wi. We got here late afternoon and had our first backing in spot. We did it the first time and set up camp. Then to the store and the Washington House Museum. This is where the first ice cream sundae was made in the U.S.A. At camp we enjoyed great sunsets each night.

9/9/11 For the first time we had to use the alarm to get up at 6:45 A.M. We had to be in Kohler Wi. by 8:15 for the Kohler tour and showroom. Once we got their we took a 3 hour tour. It was neat to see how the sinks, tubs, and fixtures were made. After the tour we went to their 5 star hotel. In the early 1900's it was used by the immigrants that Kohler used from Europe. What changes it has been through. On the way home we stopped by Manitowoc Wi. to see an old house and museum. They also had a art display and police and fireman display for 911. This is also where part of spudnick landed 10 years ago. Back to Two Rivers where we went to Hamilton Wood Type and Printing, Two Rivers History museum, and Historic Farm equipment. What life must have been in the early 1900s.

9/10/11 On our way to Green Bay we stopped by a sausage and cheese store that each place made their own. What great sections. Then went to Green Bay botanical gardens and past Greens Bay Lomboidi field.

Tonight we went to look at light houses in Manitowoc county Wi. and drove along Lake Michigan and watched the sunset and there was a full moon glimmering on the lake

9/11/11 After church we packed up and went 63 to Door County Wi. We were able to go up the coast line of Lake Michigan. The small towns are very unique. Here is a restruant with grass and goats on the roof.
