Fort Worth and More

Tues. After breakfast and Bible study we left for Denton Tx. After going to welcome center we drove to Hickory Creek Park.(core of Eng.) It is a prettty campground.  On our drive back to Bridgeport we stopped by and got my Federal Senior Pass to parks and campgrounds(Linda so excited I'm getting old). After dinner we went on a bike ride and enjoyed the sunset again. Wed. we left for Fort Worth we stopped by an information center then downtown. This was one of the buildings downtown. Linda is in love with this city.

This is the old courthouse and it is still being used today. Tarrant County Courthouse.

The town was built without a fence around it. This is a drawing of the Fort.

This is one of the many courtrooms. As we went through the building the people were friendly and helpful.  While we looked into the courtroom a women came out of her office and had us set in the judges seat.  Then in the library they let us see a book of the history of the building.  How about this: they came $100,000 under a $500,000 budget and the town was so upset they built the building no one was reelected.

This is what the courthouse looked like when built.

they say when the builders built the building they were not suppose to sign his name on the murals and he did and if you notice the second support is upside down they say there is three more mistakes done to the building.

this is the building next door to the courthouse with the angel with 2 buildings as his wings and if you notice the block work on the building was painted on. From a distance the building was beautiful

this is one of the three pools in the Water Garden which is right down the middle of the city. The Quite Water Pool is what you see with two walls about 20 feet tall 40 feet long a water slowly cascading over the wall. the next pool was being cleaned called aerating pool.  The pools were built to be a "cooling oasis in the concrete jungle".  It's very tranquil there.

this is the Active Pool 38 feet below the ground
710 feet of hidden troughs feed the 10,500 gallon per minute into the central pool

when the pools were made four people lost there lives in this one.(a mother and her 3 children)  It was redone but as you can see, still scary.  Linda lost her equilibrium and had a hard time getting back up.(she only made it half way)

this is a concrete mountain at the pools where they have 20 steps 20 inches deep each

we went to the Fort Worth Zoo the fifth largest in U.S.

this is what they call the "stockyards".  In this yard the cowboys practice roping a steel cow.

Thur. we worked around the rig, washed truck, got both tanks filled of propane, and got a grease gun. Fri. we got hooked up and went to the tire center who came out on Sun. the valve stem which he accidentally broke and replaced was to short .While there we had them rotate and balance the tires and I was able to grease the fittings.  Then we drove to James and Jean some sojourners friends.

we drove thou the town Chico and were thinking of Al (son-n-law) for it is his nick name

!!we got to put our rig into a carport!!! I told it not to get use to it

we drove through out the city of Bellevue and on one of the cow pasters we saw the remains of cows and rocks

Sat. we got up made cowboy coffee cake. Jean made her famous grilled hamburgers, and they were delicious!!!

that afternoon we went and picked pecans. They have them growing on their land. I did not know that pecans have a hard shell around them and it is not until it gets cold that they split open and the pecan drops out.  After that we drove to Muenster and went to Fischer's Meat Market.  We bought different cheese and sausages. yum!

this is one of the power wind mills.  After we left there we went to The Smokehouse in Lindsay and had ribs yum yum.

Sun. we went to church where they had a Guest Speaker Charles Sage from a preaching school.  He did a great job speaking and came over for lunch with alot of James and Jean family. We had a feast. He had smoked a turkey. That night we went to an assisted living place and had services that they hold there once a month. On the way home we bought a generator at Tractor Supply in Bowie. There son and family came over to help me put it in the rig and had dinner with us.  That night we finally got to play cards and the guys got beat bad. James gave me some boots to try on and we almost did not get them off.

Monday morning we left for Lawton- Fort Sill Ok. Here we are on top of Mount Scott of the Wichita Mountains wildlife Refuge a 59,020 acres with bison, elk, and long horn cattle.  All of them had to be brought back to the area. Here Linda and I are enjoying a picnic.
in the back ground you can see the many wind mills

this is the first time this year we were able to see the foliage with its bright colors. We went through Doris Campground seeing if our 5th wheel would fit into the camp sites

this is Medicine Park Ok. founded in 1908 was the first planned tourism resort. With the 1.5 million folks visiting the park each year this area is very busy but off season very slow.  It was nice to see the bridges and slow moving water area.
