Fish Fry and Mountain View


Wed. and Thur We built this banister and finished our projects. Bobby and I drove to Kenneth Mo. to pick up bedroom set and  the girls planted some flowers.  We went to a Brick Oven pizza place for dinner. Fri. We had a relaxing day at 4 P.M. we met and cut up the fish for Sat. (picture below)


Sat. was the big day.  They had more folks there than they have the past few years.  They had a 1 1/2  hour program(picture on left). We started cooking the catfish, chicken, hush puppies, and french fries around 9:30 and was done little past 11:00.  Picture below James and Brad put the cornmeal and salt on the fish and I arranged them in the baskets. After that we ate we went to all the houses for dessert and a visit with the house parents and kids.  Later that night the 8 people left played hand and foot (the guys won).

Sun. After church we went out to Dixie and had dinner then back to church that night.  We went to James and Jean trailer and played cards.  Mon. the girls went to the office to count money that people donated and the guys helped clean and put all the coking things away. One of the house parents had us for hamburgers.  The guys went home and got the rigs ready and the girls counted money till four.  We then left for Mountain View Ar. We got here around 7 set up then went up town to listen to the folk players.





Tues. we left for the senior center.  They had the folks playing for about an hour before we had lunch. (quite a deal for three dollars) Below is Odell who came to the park where we are staying and gave us a private show, then some of the folks who are staying here joined in (2 pictures below). We went out to dinner at Pizza place and had their buffet at senior discount. We then drove downtown and listened to Odell and others play and sing.


Wed. After our lunch at the senior center we took a ride in the area around town.  Here we are at a fast moving river. Below is a old church with an old piano in the corner.
     This is the county road that we drove on.  The pictures don't show it but the road got very narrow!
We stopped by a solid rock this is the end if Linda only knew how the rock was over nothing she would not have went out there!!. (see picture below)

                        We drove to Calico Rock Ar. and enjoyed Ice cream and the old town.
              Again we went downtown and enjoyed the music. Below is the picking shed at our park.

Our last week in Paragould Ak.

This is the third time I have put these pictures on here and written this.  Below we drove to Searcy Ar.This is a restaurant on the square downtown.  The nest picture is a bison at Harding Univ. We were there for the inauguration of the new President Dr. Bruce McLarty.  He is the son of one of the sojourners.

After the ceremony they had a banquet.  Linda is getting some dessert.  They also had a shrimp, horderves,  main dish, and drink tables.
 This is the Roundup that we went to Sat. night. They had several country singers.

 On Mon. we went to one of the Sojourners for a fish fry and potluck. Later we sang and two of the ladies played there Dulcimers. One of the houses from the children's home came over also.


On Tues. we cooked 105 hamburgers and 100 hot dogs for the Children's home and us. The picture next to here is Linda and My person for the two weeks. The tall one Jake was just baptized Sunday.

On Tues when I was working I screwed a drill bit into my hand.  On Wed. I went to the Doctor and got a tetanus and some antibiotics. We we drove to Maumaduke for a sing together.  They were also having cake and ice cream for the folks that month.

Sojourn at Children Home Paragould Ar. 41st Anniversity


 
 We were able to have lunch with Jennifer at her work. Below is some turkeys that we saw near the campgrounds. Before dinner we played school. Mackenzie was the  teacher she had many things planed out for us to do.
  Fri. we got on the road early and got to the college by 2:00.  It was nice to see some of the sojourners we have not seen in awhile.  We played cards after dinner.  Sat. we all went to breakfast a leisure day then we played pegs and jokers.
  Sunday we went to church then out to lunch. Two pictures below is our meeting.  The leader Betty had made scarfs for the ladies. David and Rachel gave Linda a" survival kit from the south". They were here for the sojourn at the college and got things for her.She had made a comment that she hadn't eaten some of their southern food!  Not sure I'm up for tasting that.  Potted meat!!!!!She told them she hoped she would never need to use her survival kit!!I think i'm going to agree with that.  She said one night playing cards she will share!!!

 That night we drove to Marmaduke Ar. for church one of the sojourners was the speaker.


 Mon. was our 41st Anniversary we did our first day of work at the children's home.  I worked on sanding lockers getting them ready  for paint.  Linda worked in the kitchen cleaning.  After dinner we played peg and jokers again the guys won one and the girls won one.
Tues. we did the same work but after dinner we went to a volleyball game which had the twin granddaughters of one of the  sojourners.

Wed. Linda worked in the kitchen and I finished the lockers.  I then started to pressure wash the buildings.

Hendersonville Tn.

  As the kids get older the rules in there schools change so we took Mackenzie out of school to Subway for lunch. The first picture is of her school.  The two pictures below is our trip to Clarksville with Yun and Katie. Below # 65 is Diego first scrummage. After the game we went on base had lunch then to the Museum.


Mackenzie had a tournament this weekend. Four games on Sat. and three on Sunday. In this picture she is rounding third heading home. They won 5 and lost 2 for a three way tie for second.  Steven and Kari have tickets to the Vanderbilt football and had Katie and I join them for the game against Austin Peay from Clarksville Tn.

The next three pictures Jen and the family came over for dinner.  The kids enjoyed roasted marshmallows.


We also enjoyed a lunch at Katie's school which was grandparents day. The next three pictures are of lunch and her homeroom.












We had lunch with Charles and Janice Hardison some sojourners that live in south Tn.  They met us at Chuy's Mexican Rest. in Opry Mills Mill. We had a great lunch and were able to visit for quite awhile. We left there and went to some RV places to look at motorhomes.  The picture next to this is when we were reading a play for her homework.  Everyone had one or two parts. We had a breakfast for dinner tonight everyone enjoyed it.

Clarksville and Hendersonvillle Tn.

 Thur. LiliMarie was feeling better so she went to Karate class and was tested and got her next belt white with yellow stripe. Below Al was putting  an antenna in the attic when his foot slipped and went through the ceiling. It was just before a wonderful cookout that they had.  On Sunday we left for Hendersonville.

Sun. night Katie spent the night and on Mon. MacKenzie. In the mornings we they made pancakes and waffles. Yun (there foreign exchange from Korea) made dinner somewhat spicy but very tasty.


 We went to the park and played volleyball, softball, and basketball. My legs are still hurting after three days.


Wed. was a very good day for we had a meeting with our new heart doctor.  We were worried on where to park the truck in there parking garage.  Steven Engstrum met us there and helped us with Valley parking and went to breakfast with us to Panera's. Dr. Hansen at Vanderbilt gave me a clean bill of health and told me to go back to doing what ever I was doing before the heart attack.
