Marshall Tx. our third week

Thur. we had a half day then the sojourn hug. We have enjoyed the meeting this year they had alot of good speakers. We played cards Thur, Fri; and Sat. nights.  Got the car and rig washed on Thur and Fri. Sat we drove to Longview ate at Panera's. Sunday after church we went to Golden Coral for lunch.  Sunday night after we got home Linda started to get sick.  Mon. and Tues we started our sojourn here at Camp Bee.  Linda worked in the office and I and four other guys dug up two large tree stumps.  We got one out but the other one is giving us a fit. Tues. we got frustrated and started on the poll barn addition. We played cards both nights. Wed it rained all day we did not get any work done.  Linda was not feeling well stayed home from church.  We have enjoyed her home made soups.


Wed. and Thur. we worked on getting the phone working after our first one had problems.  Linda still is sick (she lost her voice) and I have a bad headache.  We rested in bed most of today both getting better.

Marshall Tx. second week

Below two pictures Linda was modeling one of the fruit of the spirits (joy) during talent night.
 We went to Fairview on Friday to get some parts for the rig.  The ring in the toilet stopped working and the handle on the screen door broke.  After eating at a Mexican restaurant we drove to Jefferson here is the general store.

Below  is Tyler Tx. The first set of pictures is the parade.  It had over a 100 entries many school bands and floats. This was all part of the Texas Rose Festival since 1933.
When the parade was over we went to see the Roses and the Rose tea was taking place.
Below are  some of the girls in there gowns.
When we left there we went to where they were having the girls jump horse show.  We both enjoyed watching them.

On Sunday after church we went back to Jefferson to a taste of the town.  Here they charge you give you a plate and utensils stamped your hand and you went to where the restaurant were giving out food and they put samples on your plate. Below James and Jean are listening to one of the three places that had music. After church that night we played 14 a game like five crowns.  Jean was the big winner.

We had classes again at night we had a sing along on Monday night. Tues we had our banquet.  Linda and I helped cook and serve.  It was alot of fun and they had a quartet come and sing. (pictures below)

Marshall Tx.

On Thur. we drove to Lakeview for the day.   We went shopping at Sears and found alot of great deals. We had lunch at Jason Deli and coffee at Starbucks.  After we got back and had dinner we played cards and the girls had no mercy on us. . We got up Fri. morning and Linda made pancakes for my birthday (they were very good). We had a 9:00 meeting then went out to a Mexican restaurant for lunch.  As you can see they sang to me and we shared an ice cream.  Linda had a 3:00 meeting then she went to help with the health emergency procedures.  We had dinner then played pegs and joker's.  Went to the hospital to visit John and Linda Terry for John had a emg. gallbladder surgery.  All and all I had a great birthday.

Sat. we got up and went to I Hops. Then a relaxing day at home. That night we played two games of hand and foot we both won.  Sun. Church then to a china buffet.  We we got home to a afternoon tea (everyone met for cookies and talk).

 Mon. was our first day of the meetings.  It looks like we have great speakers this year.  After classes we went to Jucys for hamburgers.  That night we had singing what great sound when over a hundred folks sing together. Again we went to classes Tues. and Wed.

2nd Week in Mountain View Ar.

 We took a drive in the mountains almost every day. We stopped by Ozark Folk Center for a buffet breakfast. As we ate we watched a squirrel eat the corn at the end of the stick. As he got the corn the stick went around and around and he hung on even upside down. Then we stopped by the where they make dulcimer. they had one made for hillbillies. Also there they had a old wagon and house.




This is the court house in Mountain view.  This is where all the music started in the 60's and 70,s. Below we are eating at one of the many restaurants.

 Here is the square at night.  There were six groups playing here and three around the corner.
                              We stopped by James and Jean friend on our way to the mountains.




Sunday night after church we went to Jimmy Driftwood Barn and was entertained by many artist.  The kids clogged and played. Above picture both of the girls played the violin and below she keeps the beat with the band.
 Our last day Mon. we drove around shopped downtown.  Played some cards and listen to the pickers at our picken shed.
 On Tues. we left for Marshall Tx. As you can see from the picture below it was foggy. We drove with Bill and Lynn got here setup and went to dinner with Charles and Janis Harrdison. We played cards and the girls won with out counting the last hand.

Fish Fry and Mountain View


Wed. and Thur We built this banister and finished our projects. Bobby and I drove to Kenneth Mo. to pick up bedroom set and  the girls planted some flowers.  We went to a Brick Oven pizza place for dinner. Fri. We had a relaxing day at 4 P.M. we met and cut up the fish for Sat. (picture below)


Sat. was the big day.  They had more folks there than they have the past few years.  They had a 1 1/2  hour program(picture on left). We started cooking the catfish, chicken, hush puppies, and french fries around 9:30 and was done little past 11:00.  Picture below James and Brad put the cornmeal and salt on the fish and I arranged them in the baskets. After that we ate we went to all the houses for dessert and a visit with the house parents and kids.  Later that night the 8 people left played hand and foot (the guys won).

Sun. After church we went out to Dixie and had dinner then back to church that night.  We went to James and Jean trailer and played cards.  Mon. the girls went to the office to count money that people donated and the guys helped clean and put all the coking things away. One of the house parents had us for hamburgers.  The guys went home and got the rigs ready and the girls counted money till four.  We then left for Mountain View Ar. We got here around 7 set up then went up town to listen to the folk players.





Tues. we left for the senior center.  They had the folks playing for about an hour before we had lunch. (quite a deal for three dollars) Below is Odell who came to the park where we are staying and gave us a private show, then some of the folks who are staying here joined in (2 pictures below). We went out to dinner at Pizza place and had their buffet at senior discount. We then drove downtown and listened to Odell and others play and sing.


Wed. After our lunch at the senior center we took a ride in the area around town.  Here we are at a fast moving river. Below is a old church with an old piano in the corner.
     This is the county road that we drove on.  The pictures don't show it but the road got very narrow!
We stopped by a solid rock this is the end if Linda only knew how the rock was over nothing she would not have went out there!!. (see picture below)

                        We drove to Calico Rock Ar. and enjoyed Ice cream and the old town.
              Again we went downtown and enjoyed the music. Below is the picking shed at our park.
